Three Poems by Felino Soriano

Poetry
by Felino Soriano

Painters’ Exhalations 464
—after Declan O'Mahony’s Turquoise

Ocean description, nonsensical cliché abundant explanation.

Carousel diversion on the spring day
delicate

awash problematic work-time habits

within

festival of reddened fruit. Wings, a subjective wide, double the speed of
an eye’s predetermined function. I watch jade

e x p a n d

and recall the baby’s first gifted blanket,
its swathing arms in a nuzzle against
fresh skin, too, its body warming
reaction to a new world of wombless
dedication.

Painters’ Exhalations 465
—after SIPHO’s Crayons

Today’s sky, linty. Its open mouth
cotton-dry, arid raspy disjoint
rather carefree in its low-level
boredom.

When unaware, sky turned onto itself, a family
of horizons, private painters
decorating expanse the purple and mauve
renditions hovering after rain

—countered the monotony of graygray
with
an open box of multihued scarves
hanging around the neck of
distance’s emaciated torso.

Painters’ Exhalations 466
—after William Pettet’s FA

Explosions, bountiful bouquets
dressed in surplus cloth
left from clammy air
loving sessions of earth’s
rotational habits. They are
often called earth tones, as
to talk into a spiritual handling
of created insignia. Others call
these patterns strange, for their
abstract skeletons are shaped
from psychedelic tales of cautious inspirations.
Another sees a lost woman
dangling from her past, her head dressed in
Sunday morning hats and
her hands wrapped in sentiment
etched into collaborative absence,
sending their child away
into a farther proclamation than
the body is willing to ascertain.
