The Last Big Hit by Jon Bennett

There’s a movie where an old Japanese professor

has a crush on one of his students

he arranges to meet her

and thinking it’s a date

he smears his face

with some kind of white face paint

to make himself look younger.

The student shows up

with her husband

and the professor runs to the bathroom.

He looks at himself in the mirror

he sees a buffoon

he’s not just a fool

he’s an old fool.

Sometimes when I look at you

I think about him.
